We pulled out the wagon. We painted our faces. We wore our patriotic colors. And we walked a few blocks to see the neighborhood parade.
We met up with friends. We made new friends.
We waved at the cars. We waved at the floats. We waved our flags.
Strangers offered us Capri Suns. And in return, we offered them the candy we collected.
We walked home. Well, some of us rode home.
It was the perfect little neighborhood parade. Big enough for the kids. Small enough for the parents. Thanks Sparkman!
Happy Birthday America! And Happy Fourth of July to all of you.
